Former paralympian: Graham Condon, QSM. |
|
|
| Dedication to:
Graham Condon
The Organising Committee dedicate their efforts to the memory of the late Graham Condon, QSM, former Paralympian.
Just weeks before the bid to host this event was awarded to Christchurch, Graham Condon – the only person to represent New Zealand in six consecutive Paralympics,
and who had won 36 international medals and held seven world Olympic and Commonwealth records in weightlifting and on the track – died tragically when hit by a car while training on his hand cycle.
Graham, a board member of Paralympics NZ and a Christchurch City Councilor, was a key
member of the bid committee. Members of the Organising Committee vowed to dedicate their efforts in staging this event, to the memory of Graham.
