Message of welcome from Bob Parker
I am delighted the IPC Athletics World Championships are being held in our city and we look forward to hosting this prestigious event.
Christchurch certainly has the facilities and infrastructure which will ensure the success of the Championships. QEII is an excellent venue for the Athletics
championships.
Along with our international airport, and incredible array of accommodation options, Christchurch really is a magnificent venue and you can be assured of a great time, before during and after the Championships. Our Redbus Company has a large modern fleet, ready to meet the
crucial transport needs of the athletes.
We have excellent shopping restaurants and cafés. There are heaps of things to see and do, and because of our flat terrain it is highly accessible. From browsing through the historic arts centre to visiting the botanic gardens or riding the historic
trams, there’s something for everyone.
We love having visitors to our city and really look forward to hosting the IPC Athletics World Championships here in Christchurch in 2011.
