Discover QEII Park, an impressive multi-sport and leisure complex, featuring Australasia's largest aquatic facility. The themed leisure pool, opened in August 2002, is an unrivalled water fantasy world, fantastic for family entertainment.
QEII Park was built specifically for the 1974 Commonwealth Games as the venue for the Athletics and swimming as well as the opening and closing ceremonies and is an icon of Christchurch and New Zealand. Today the facility caters for family recreation through to elite sport performance and development.

Athletic Stadium

The stadium has an international 400 metre all-weather athletic track with a new mondo track surface. It has a 15,000 seating capacity, making it a premier athletic venue, and concert or event venue. It has been the athletics venue for the World Wheelchair Games in 1999 and 2003. It has a full IAAF certification.

QEII is owned and operated by Christchurch City Council. It is the home of Athletics Canterbury and approximately 60 athletic meetings are held their each year.

QEII Park is one of the two High Performance Hubs of the New Zealand Academy of Sport.

Additional Training Track

As part of the bid, it was agreed that a 400m eight- lane training track and field event facilities would be provided, adjacent to the main stadium.

Location

QEII is located 11km from the central business district, about 15 minutes by bus.

Aquatic Facility

The Aquatic facility includes a 40m wave pool, lazy river and children's playzone. Spa, Sauna, and café facilities are also available poolside. For competitive swimming or swim training there is a 50m International size 10 lane pool. In addition to this there is a 25m pool & teach pool and 30m dive well with a range of dive towers. QEII also has a modern fitness centre and aerobic studio, squash courts, an athletic stadium with mondo track, Village Green with a first class cricket wicket and other sports grounds.

At QEII Park you will also find Active Health medical centre, QEII Clinical massage, Team Gym for sports teams and academies and the QEII swim shop.
