Volunteer Programme

The task for the Organising Committee is to build a well-trained team of volunteers sufficient to meet the special needs of the 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships, through communication, selection and recruitment, education and training, and encouragement and recognition.

During the Championships, the volunteers shall provide high quality and thoughtful services to the members of the Paralympics Family, the media, spectators and other participants.

Becoming a volunteer can be a very rewarding and satisfying experience.
Among the duties volunteers will assist with is registration, transport, general administration tasks, security, field of play support, equipment storage management, meet and greet, interpretation, media personnel support and liaison with the international competitors.

We recognise that volunteering is fundamental to sports and events in New Zealand, as it is internationally. We recognise that volunteers are a very special group of people who contribute significantly to the success of the event and to the experience the competitors have while in New Zealand. It is important that both the volunteers and the participants have a positive and valuable experience.

It's the chance of a lifetime to join the team of volunteers as we welcome the world. We're looking for enthusiasm, dedication and a commitment to the IPC Organising Committee's values of team, trust, excellence, sustainability and creativity. There are many shoes to fill and we need talented people to fill them - one of them could be you.
